I had a wonderful opportunity to shoot stills at Lips San Diego during the filming of Animal Planet’s Dogs 101 TV show. They were featuring the Japanese Chin dog breed on their tv special. JCCARE was there (Japanese Chin Rescue of San Diego) as well as Christine’s Pet Grooming. I also shared the evening snapping photos alongside the famous pet photographer Tamandra Michaels as well as David Veit.
I started off the evening by shooting the attendees outside on the red carpet with their pets. The camera crew came outside and did a little filming of everyone. We all went inside and had a seat and got the cocktails flowing. Soon it was time to start the show! Our local fierce and fabulous drag queens treated everyone to a fashion show with coordinating outfits to compliment the Japanese Chin doggies they held with them on the runway and set down at the end of the stage. Most of the dogs had their coats dyed gorgeous petsafe colors. Such a feast for the eyes!
And speaking of eyes, I didn’t want to be on TV or be in the way of the camera crew, so I kept finding myself looking directly at the camera to see where my body was in relation to where he was shooting. And of course, every time I looked up, there he was, pointing the camera right at my direction. UGH! I would jump up from my position and move out of the area. haha

This event was SO much fun to shoot, the Chin Rescue received a fantastic amount of donations, and everyone had a great time!
